Local news is an integral part of community identity; it keeps us connected to others in our immediate area, informs us on issues impacting it, and enables us to celebrate the achievements of our community folk with our nearest (and possibly dearest!). But what makes a great local news story? And who writes the inches, prints the pages, and touts the headlines? Join Currie and Balerno News editor Paul Cockburn for a journey through the history of the community newspaper to find out!

Paul will be examining the Craigmillar Festival News from its inception as a single flyer to a complete newspaper and its eventual transformation into the Craigmillar Chronicle, as well as other community newspapers from around the city. Featuring editions and images stretching back to 1980 and beyond, get the scoop on this fascinating section of Craigmillar by nipping along for this unmissable talk!
