Faye Milligan

Milligan Drive is named after local actor Faye Milligan (1958–2003), affectionately known as ‘Auntie Faye’, who holds a profound place in the heart of the Craigmillar community.

A beloved local figure (who worked on television productions such as Taggart, Summer Season and The Steamie as well as local and national films and numerous touring shows), her dual role as a performer and activist with the Craigmillar Festival from the age of 12 won her legendary status in the area.

Reg Bolton

Bolton Place is named after clown, teacher, activist and writer Reg Bolton (1945–2006). Bolton pioneered new forms of circus performance and community development through circus skills in Craigmillar and Niddrie.

This work grew into city-wide schemes such as The Children’s Circus and The Edinburgh Summer Circus School, attracting students from across the UK and overseas.

In 1985, Bolton moved to Australia, continuing this innovative model of social development – first pioneered in Craigmillar – on the other side of the world.
